Up the Duff

Secrets are so last year...
Which is convenient because apparently my killer secret keeping skills have left the building.

I am knocked up!

That's right folks.

As my dear Katta put it, "I am up the Duff!"

Which blows my mind because with Ruby we cried our selves to sleep for years as we cycled through every natural and non- natural way of conceiving.

This one. This one was ready for us now. So ready that we didn't even know. We didn't have time to even think about if we were ready.

It only takes once! What the? I thought we were just having a nice date together. Who knew intercourse lead to baby making! They should teach us that in school!

Basically, we are: Happy. Shocked. Excited... and totally crapping our pants.

We had pretty much planned on this type of family growth and it is only six months or so earlier than we had planned. But, I guess we had this surreal vision of being a little more together six months down the road. Careers would be smooth running, the house would be remodeled and self cleaning, my Crohn's would have disappeared, the dogs would never need to bark or defecate and the bank accounts would be brimming with cash.

Realistically though, we all know that would never have happened in 6 months. Or the three potential years we thought it may take to conceive. Or ever for that matter.

So there you go!

In short, We went on three dates, I wore my skinny jeans about 3 times, I had a tattoo booked, got my job back after seasonal lay offs and was dreaming about a masters degree in Italy.

But the universe had different plans for our wonderful little lives. Plans that Ruby had predicted several times over the last few months. Plans to send us a miracle from the far away heavens.

A dream.
A star.

So, If all goes well we're having this Star Baby in December. It's early days and
as we all know anything can happen. I am trying to push away any worries and enjoy...

This is all supposed to be a secret. That's why I haven't told you personally if you're one of my local ladies - however, I figure it doesn't count if I tell you in blogosphere.

Wink.
Wink.
More on giddiness, exhaustion, vanity, cravings, mommy and career guilt to follow...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

So excited for you!

December is a great time to have a baby....you're at your hugest, most pregnant just when it's all cold out and the days are short. Then it's Christmas and you have a newborn!

Oh my! Congratulations!!

If the baby is due near Christmas, here's a cute way to announce it: http://www.cafepress.com/+christmas_present_came_early_maternity_dark_tshir,417150463

That's the maternity version, but there's also a child version you could get for Ruby to wear. See how long it takes people to notice what her shirt says!
