Time for some photos

I don't need to tell you blog mamas how fast this year has flown by because I am sure that your heads are spinning with wonder at the frenzied pace your own babes are growing.

What I can tell you, is that I can't believe the rate at which Ruby changing. She is developing, growing, learning, communicating, laughing, playing, talking, eating and becoming a real little person. A character with unique wants, needs, likes, dislikes, talents, flaws, skills and of course a wicked mouth and an awesome sense of humor.

Basically, she blows my mind and I can barely keep up with recording all of her wonderful new discoveries and abilities on her baby calender. Speaking of her baby calender...We're on the last page!? What the heck? Ruby turns one in less than two weeks. How did this happen? Where did our year go? Never mind the year, where did my baby go? This girl is trying to talk, trying to walk and has completely weaned herself from my breast (sniffle, sniffle- although within two weeks I had my beloved, if not a tad deflated and saggy, A cups back. Woot!)

In preparation for her first birthday, I decided, quite uncharacteristically, to craft something special up for her. A cloth doll. I found the pattern here and it is adorable. I posted a photo of the finished product below. Only, be sure not to tell her because it's a surprise.

Isn't she a doll?

A bike ride with the Hubs' parents...Who, by the way, are moving here this summer. And will be taking care of My Baby three days a week next year when the Hubs is at work. Yeah for Nana and Grandad and Daddy. Boo for mommy working five days a week again. Except that it's my dream job. Oh the conflict. Oh the eternal stuggle. The Mommy guilt. Is it wrong that while I'd rather her be with them over anywhere else that I am a bit jealous?

Man, I will miss going for walks and coffees with my girlfriends. I mean I will miss playdates and raising my darling dancer. Seriously though, I never thought I'd say this but the thought of returning to work doesn't really appeal that much to me. Except that it's my dream job. (repeat the last two paragraphs over and over and you can get an idea about what I often think about when I can't sleep at night).

Mommy's One Year present to herself. A bike Trailer! So fun! Ruby is a little miffed about the whole idea of a helmet but she is getting used to it. We rode as a family to the farmer's Market yesterday. It was dreamy.

Heat wave Deck Party. Thanks Grandad for building us a deck!

Where oh where did your baby go?! Holy cow!! And momma guilt: all over it. Every day. BUT you and I are very very lucky to love our jobs. I can't imagine leaving my girl 5 days a week AND not loving work. I found it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, although with summer here, I am really missing the lazy (but hard work!) days on mat leave last summer with the other moms.
But really! Not awful! And if you can't bear it, there are always other options out there. We keep talking about moving to a small town so we can live on one income...
I hope you have time to keep posting once you're back to work!

I like how I keep posting about going back to work "next year". Wake up lisalou, September is only a few short months away.

Oh, thanks for the pictures; she is such a pretty little lady. I know what you mean; I can't believe they are almost one!!! I too am torn about returning to work and can't believe it is already almost here!! Where did you get her bike helmet? Isaac's is way too big (and he hates it too).

Forgot to add that your doll is adorable. I must admit, I've totally dropped the ball on getting Isaac's doll finished for his first birthday...here's hoping for his second....

Great pics! Love the bike trailer and lots of luck with the dream job. Can't believe she'll be one year old soon!
