On our one year anniversary my husband gave me a card that pictured a cartoon couple. On the cover of the card, the couple snugled wildly on the sofa. On the inside, the Two had become Three. Love had made a baby. He wrote these words: Here's Hoping...

MT actually drew blood.
The "books" and LC's tell you either: Unlatch and Firming say No and stop breast feeding for that session. Or Smush/Push your baby's face in towards the boob so she has to wide her mouth wider and unlatch.
We did the smush in technic .. it didn't help much.
Good Luck. Apply LOTS of lanolin if the skin is broken to ward of the yeasties
forgot to mention, I'd be willing to bet the cause of the biting is Teething.
My wee one is already doing this without teeth..and it hurts like a mo. Ummm...I cannot imagine it with teeth! Yikes! I would unlatch and say No, too. A girl needs to preserve the goods!
Lily bit me and bit me and bit me some more. I had to be quite firm and de-latch right away and say "no biting" firmly. She would often laugh when I told her no and it was frustrating beyond belief, but we got through it. I go to the La Leche League meetings and there is always a couple of mom's who are asking about the biting and there are even more moms who have lived through it and offer up their advice. It's hard, painful and frustrating, but it will end and is in no way a sign that you need to wean her.
Good luck, thinking of you...
The only thing that worked when Halen started biting was a quick flick in the cheek. Not hard enough to hurt enough just enough to startle him. We also got into this terrible cycle where he would bite me then the next time I fed him I would tense up fearing the worst again and would be so tense that I think it prompted him to bite me again! It was very frustrating but we did get through it....Good luck, Kyla
Yep. Ouch. Been there. It's a phase. Bee delighted in my reactions and only stopped once I began to just put it away when she did that.
Dove bit me once, I yelped and scared the shit out of her. She cried - I seriously scared her. And hasn't done it again.
It's probably teething, poor thing.
over here too. When he first started I yelped so loud it startled him; he stopped for a long time, but is teething again. Now I say no and he stops, if he does it again in the same session I unlatch and give him a teether.
Domperidone was the answer for us. Turns out that he was biting me because the milk wasn't coming fast enough for him. Increasing my supply (more... we'd already been doing Fenugreek, Blessed Thistle, and extra pumping as I'm sure you remember me whining at great length about) was the trick.
I come off the Domperidone soon and if he starts biting again it's going to be sayonara to nursing before he does serious damage.
