2 months

Two wonderful months have raced past in a blur of diapers and snuggles. And, although I often wonder if I'll ever have the time or creative energy to write anything that is witty, poignant or spell checked again...I have often thought of the blog land over the last several weeks. I'll think , oh I should write about that later, or the hubster will make a comment about how a situation would make an interesting post for my blog.

Then, I whip out my boob to nurse and all of a sudden three hours have gone by and I am staring zombie- like at who knows what on the muted TV and I wonder how it got to be 11pm. Also, I wonder why my girl is still up. The dogs, on the other hand, are wondering where the fuck their dinner is.

So it seems I have a moment now, so I thought I should let you all know that we're All Good here in the family love nest. We even survived the first round of immunization shots. The dogs, however, are a little disgruntled -but they're hanging in.

The coolest thing about being a mom is messing with your child. Here, Ruby is being ever so patient while my friends and I create an artistic gumboot and bikini photo shoot.
Here we are, all smiles, after an 8 hour sleep ( that's right folks- but it doesn't happen all the time, so please don't hate me). This was our first family road trip/ practice mini vacation to Victoria.
And this is just an adorable photo of my gorgeous baby girl.

We love you Ruby!

Shower

Last weekend my friend Chantel hosted a lovely Welcome Ruby Party for me and my sweet little toot muffin. Love her.

Because I am a bit of a dude, I requested that there be none of the usual games and favors etc... All I needed was to hang out in her beautiful back yard with good friends and food.

Sunday was a beautiful day and I simply can not believe how spoiled we were. We were truly 'showered' with gifts and attention. It was incredible. So many people showed up to show their love for Ruby. Ruby was asleep the entire time. Which was good in a way because it meant that everyone got to have a little snuggle. It was the most socializing I've done in weeks -I was completely spent afterwards.

This cake tasted even better than it looks, if you can believe it?! My friend Katta made it. Love her. It's homemade carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Yummy!
These cupcakes seemed like a good idea at the time. I ordered red icing to be a bit cute with a tad of a Ruby theme. They were tasty in a sinful sort of way but the icing was a bit intense. You really had to commit if you dared indulge. We're talking red lips, teeth, face, fingers, nails... you get the idea.
After several hours and the most incredible shit show involving:a break down of our car (which would be dealt later to the tune of $970 thank you very much) , a sanctioned B&E at my folks place, a Rottweiler calmed with a ham and cheese croissant, a hijacking of my Dad's 1980's, white, convertible mustang... My cute little Hubster arrived from picking his sister up at the ferry. They pulled up with the top down, their twin grins shining and their blond hair flowing in the wind.

They were a titch late but they were in good spirits and there was still plenty of food and love to go around. It was great that Ruby finally got to meet her auntie Claire. Those two are already totally in love and I can tell that they are going to be trouble.Ruby is one lucky little girl. Not only is she loved to bits by her mom and dad, but she is spoiled by all of her friends and family. Check out the amazing sweater that was hand knitted for her by my friend Katta! Isn't it just amazing?
In other news... We had our final midwives appointment last week, which was quite sad, and our little girl is already 11 pounds! She is one healthy little lady.

I got the go ahead on most of the activities that I want to do and have already gone swimming once and for one bike ride. It feels good to exercise again. I am trying to just enjoy the journey towards fitness without obsessing too much. You'd have to know me to know how difficult this is. I'll give you a clue- I had to get the Hubster to hide the scale from me.

I know.

Anyways, I have been away from my Ruby only twice, each time less than an hour, since she was born. And although it is wonderful to have some me time, it does feel very strange (but not bad) to be away from her.

Watching Nicholas give her her first ,practice, bottle of breast milk made me cry.

It was a beautiful and tender sight.

As soon as he was done, I placed her to my breast and clung to her with all of my might.

She is so precious to me.

I cherish every moment her babyhood.

Every moment.
