BOOKS
When I started showing her baby cloth and board books when she was just a wee thing, she did not show much interest. These days she's been going hog wild over them. She screeches, flaps her arms, kicks her legs, and bounces up and down in my lap as she tries to grab at the pages. Our very first trip to the library was a huge success, yielding plenty of good screams/reads.
BUSES
Last Thursday the weather here got a little nasty. It was awesome. Fall was in full force as leaves whipped around in the wind and the rain pelted down. Instead of walking or driving to do our usual rounds of errands, chores and mommy/baby groups...We (I) decided we should take the bus. You know, spice things up a bit, live on the wild side. Crazy- I know it~!
The bus was great even though it took us an hour and a half return trip of what would have taken 20 minutes in the car. As far as the mommy/ baby group goes...I'm not sure it's my thing. I would like the chance to meet new moms like myself. But the problem is that I really am A Bit of a Dude and I did not find that kind of setting super enthralling. It's hard to explain...I guess I am an odd one. I'm not saying, Never shall I return to baby group. I am just saying, I wonder what else is out there?
BITING
Although quite painful, this is by far my most favourite development. It out shines the lap standing, the toy batting, the coos, gurgles and the attempted semi-rolls.
MY BABY HAS TEETH! What the fuck!? Seriously?
Yup. I did see this coming but then I totally forgot about it. Ruby started drooling profusely at about 2 months. Everyone thought, for sure she is too young to start teething...However, after reading up on the subject I confirmed that it could be happening.
The drooling was followed by sucking and then shoving everything within reach into the mouth orifice. Then there were three strait, frustrating days of mid afternoon screaming followed by several more days of irritability. It wasn't until I noticed her rosy cheeks and Bum that I decided to send in a finger for investigation.
That's when I discovered them. Well one, the other one I spied later that day.
Teeth! Teeth nubs anyhow. Her two bottom canines. I was so proud. I was so freaking sad/happy. My little girl is growing up.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry.
I did.
I balled my freaking eyes out.
Reading, Riding and now teeth all at 3.5 months.
Lets not get carried away little girl.
Maybe she wants to be a vampire for Halloween. Hummm...
In other news, I think I may be ovulating. I felt a little crampy the other day and noticed a bit of CM. Of course, I have been moody for ages so we can't use that as an indicator can we now? Bloated? Maybe...It's hard to tell. I've got a bit of a belly going on.
Interesting. The poor Hubs, after years of infertility he is a bit confused. "Does that mean we do it? Or we don't do it now?"
By the way, is anyone else out there excited about Thanksgiving this weekend? I know we are around here. There's going to be a whole lot of family (Baby Lovers) and turkey eaters at our house this year.
Bring it on!

Let me know if you find anything better than baby group. It's not really my cup of tea either, but I force myself to go every week just for the contact with other new moms.
I hope teething isn't too tough on Ruby. Some babies breeze through it with no complaints, so let's hope that's her experience! LB is chewing the crap out of everything he can get in his little fists, so I don't think we're far behind.
We've got the whole family coming over for dinner too. The best part is that I'm doing very little of the cooking! All of the main dishes are being cooked elsewhere! Normally, I love to cook for turkey day, but with LB's current feeding schedule I wouldn't be able to get anything done!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow! My kids waited til they were 9 months before they cut their first tooth! Way to go Ruby!
Happy Thanksgiving and sausage stuffing to you...
First of all - cutest freakin' hat ever! Where can I get one just like it?!? LOL
Second...baby group was not totally my thing either, so don't feel too bad! I found it useful to meet a few people and then set up things outside of baby group...much more to my taste!
Hope your Thanksgiving was as wonderful as you were hoping!
Congratulations Ruby! I also have a proficient early tooth-grower, and an infected bite to show for it...just wait until the top two show up, ha ha!
And mom/baby drop in. We went for a while, then, like Jen, started setting up get togethers at each other's houses instead, which is great, especially as the babies get older and more interested in each other.
That is one cute little vampire!
Wow teeth!! We've got drool and irritability, but no tooth buds yet. I LOVE the hat in the first picture. Ruby is too sweet.
