Live from the Belly Top

This post is coming to you live directly from the comfort of my very own bed!

That's right folks~ The Hubster is an angel.
I am blogging from my new, extremely pretty, laptop.

The Hubster has been trying to talk me into this purchase for awhile. I've resisted because although my computer is ancient, there is nothing specifically wrong with it. It is big and it is slow.
Hey, so am I.

I've always felt a little creepy about getting new stuff. Stuff in general gives me the willies. And although I love spendorphins as much as the next gal, I've never fully made peace with my inner consumer. My opinions, and my price limit changed, however, when I saw my future lappy's lusty, metallic brown colour and sexy graphic design -
Can you say sucker for marketing much?

This whole steamy affair came about because The Hubs doesn't like me going up and down the sketchy, steep, asking for an injury, basement stairs in my present state. To be totally honest neither do I.

The fact that I haven't checked my email in a week pretty much sums up the true desperation of the situation. Basically, I came around to liking the idea of a laptop
(or belly top if you're 38 weeks pregnant) when I considered I'll be home all of next year with an infant.

Yikes!

I'm not much of a TV watcher...and I highly doubt that I'll get clearance to cart the wee one up and down the stairs...just so I can read blogs and surf the web.
Only when I am not tending to my child, working out vigorously, cleaning the house, or preparing wholesome meals for my husband -of course!

So, now... the pregnancy report.
Or, as my friend Chanti calls it, Baby Watch 2008:

I am still pregnant. Very much so indeed. I will be 38 weeks on Monday and both my midwife and I agree that this little babe could very well come early.
I am trying not to get too excited about that idea as I know most first time moms deliver later rather than earlier.

My urine was clear of sugar this week, my iron stores are good and my blood pressure is still normal. My midwife is happy that I stopped work and she gave me the green light on swimming right up until I give birth. Unfortunately, my favourite pool is closed for maintenance so I've been testing out a few others in town.

The baby is a good size and is in position. I've been getting Braxton Hicks like nobodies business and I am not sleeping. When I walk , it feels like my baby is just barely being held in by my hoo hoo. I've started to get other cramps and pains in my lady parts too.

Although I am exhausted and uncomfortable, I am excited. We will be having a baby soon and that totally blows my mind.

Like, totally freakin' blows it!

Speaking as a new Mom who spends way way way too much time on the computer I am very happy for you about your new purchase!! Computer times and mama blogs in specific have saved my sanity many a day!

I keep waiting for a post that tell us that baby has arrived!! Very exciting!

Belly tops rock! Couldn't imagine my life without one and being able to blog from bed is the cat's ass!

You looked like a glowing goddess at the Farmer's Market yesterday. I know you didn't feel that way, but you really are a beautiful pregnant lady!

I'm getting so excited for you I can hardly sit still!

Ditto what Jen said - new moms spend a lot of time at the computer, especially once the baby's taking good naps. You can only clean/work out/cook so much, right?!
Good luck with the early delivery...sounds like you're WAAAY ahead of how I felt at 38 (and even 41!) weeks, so hopefully next time I comment it will be to congratulate you!

I just saw your comment on my blog about serving Colin Firth his supper!!!!! Oh my God, you lucky girl! He's my favorite actor. I get all swoony when I think of him, and I am so not the swooning type. I don't know if I could've kept working. I would've messed up so bad, tripping over myself. I can see it already. God help me if I ever meet him. I would be in an altered state of being.

this is the most exciting time. so glad you got the laptop - it's way easier to blog while breastfeeding if you're on a comfy couch!
